Astana. 2nd October 2013. The Mazhilis deputies today approved the draft law concerning ratification of the Agreement for the $125 million loan to be obtained by Kazakhstan from the Asian Bank of Development for the construction of a part of Shymkent-Tashkent highway of Europe-Western China corridor, Kazakhstan Today Information Agency informs.
As RoK Minister of Transport and Communications Mr. Askar Zhumagaliyev informed, ABD will grant a loan for 16 years taking into account four years of the privileged period. In the meantime, it is noted that co-financing provided by RoK Government will not exceed $22 million.
According to the Minister’s information, the project provides for reconstruction of a segment of 36,7 km length between 705th and 742nd km of Shymkent-Tashkent highway. Also, the project provides for the support in rendering services related to construction supervision and external monitoring of implementation of security measures. The project is planned to be completed at the end of 2015.
It is announced that the reconstructed area of Shymkent-Tashkent highway will be made of concrete, with four-lane traffic divided by barriers.
An interchange and five overpasses are also planned to be constructed on that road segment.
The loan agreement was signed on May 28, 2013 in Astana.
