New effective mechanisms to protect the rights of consumers will be created in Kazakhstan. The corresponding package of legislative amendments was discussed today at the extended meeting of the Senate’s Committee on Economic Policy, Innovative Development and Entrepreneurship,  Рrimeminister.kz informs.

“In order to create effective mechanisms to safeguard the legal interests of consumers, the draft law provides for: improving the requirements to sale, return and replacement of goods; detailing conditions for the performance of works, provision of services; determining the legal environment of electronic trade”, – informed Mr. Timur Zhaksykykov, Vice Minister of National Economy of the RoK presenting to the deputies the draft law “On introducing amendments and additions to some legislative acts of the Republic of Kazakhstan on protection of consumers’ rights”.

He noted that the proposed amendments “provide for the strengthening of the competence of the authorized body on the coordination of consumer protection, provision of additional legal guarantees for citizens, their social initiatives and will contribute to the development of socially responsible business environment”.

T. Zhaksylykov stressed that the main objectives of the bill are: determining the sphere’s regulatory principles; creating new effective and improvement of the existing mechanisms of consumer protection; regulatory activity aimed at improving the quality of the government regulation of the consumer protection system; increasing the role of consumers’ public associations.
