According to the official letter of the National Bank of Kazakhstan, from 1 January 2016  the bank notes with a face value of KZT 2,000, KZT 5,000 and KZT 10,000 issued in 2006 will be out of circulation, IA Zakon.kz informs.

“Hereby the National Bank of the RoK reminds that, in accordance with the Resolutions of the Board of the RoK National Bank  #213 dated 26 December 2011  “On establishing the period of simultaneous circulation of banknotes with a face value of KZT 5,000 issued in 2006 and 2011”,  #107 dated 26 March 2012  “On establishing the period of simultaneous circulation of banknotes with a face value of KZT 10,000 issued in 2006 and 2012”, #127 dated 27 May 2013  “On establishing the period of simultaneous circulation of banknotes with a face value of  KZT 2,000 issued in 2006 and 2012”, 31 December 2015 is the expiry date of the period of simultaneous circulation of bank notes with a face value of KZT 2,000, KZT 5,000, KZT 10,000 issued in 2006”, – states the Letter of the National Bank available at KazTAG disposal.

The document emphasizes that with effect from 1 January 2016 the old banknotes “cease to be a legal tender on the territory of Kazakhstan for all types of payments.”

As the National Bank’s officials explained, in accordance with the rules of replacement of the circulating national currency banknotes in the event of change of their design (form), within 12 months from the end of the period of simultaneous circulation of old and new banknotes, the second-tier banks are obliged to accept and exchange old bank notes for legal entities and individuals.
