We are talking about the notes in denominations of 5 thousand and 10 thousand tenge. The period of dual circulation of banknotes in denominations of 5 thousand tenge issued in 2006 and 2011 and 10 thousand tenge banknotes issued in 2006 and 2012. They will be valid until 2015. This information was provided to Kapital.kz business portal by the medial service of the RoK National Bank.

In the period of dual circulation, the banknotes of old sample are legal means of payment that are issued and received by second-tier banks, without limitation . They must be accepted in all types of payments and money transfers.

After completion of the period of dual circulation of banknotes, the following rules shall be applied:

– Second-tier banks for a further 12 months from the date of completion of the period of dual circulation accept and exchange old banknotes of old issue to businesses and individuals. After 12 months have expired, banks accept only old-issue banknotes for their further transfer to the branches of the National Bank for examination;

– branches of the national Bank will accept the banknote of old issue during next three years and exchange them for new one.
