Nursultan Nazarbayev informed that, according to the filed request, Mr. Grigoriy Martchenko was released from the position of the Chairman of the National Bank due to family circumstances, the President’s press-service informs.

– He has worked for many years on this position, also in hard years;  made a big contribution to the development of our country’s financial system, to the work of the National Bank, National Fund administration, for which I am very grateful to him, – Kazakhstan President said.

The Head of State informed that he had decided to appoint Mr. Kairat Kelimbetov as the Chairman of the National Bank. – He is 45, graduated from the Moscow State University and Georgetown University (USA). In the recent years occupied the positions of the Minister of Economics and Budget Planning, and later – Deputy Prime-Minister, conducted negotiations related to functioning of the Customs Union and creation of the Eurasian Economic Union. I think that his knowledge of the country’s economy and financial situation will have a positive effect on the operation of the National Bank, – Nursultan Nazarbayev said.

The President of Kazakhstan noted that this decision was made for the benefit of our country’s development and stressed that the policy of the National Bank will not change.
