According to information of Uzakbay Karabalin, the Minister of Oil and Gas, the work at the Kashagan field is carried out successfully. This was reported by the minister at a press briefing in the Service of central communications, as Portal Kapital.kz informs. As the minister says, in 2014, one expects to produce about 8 million tons of oil at Kashagan.

“This year production has already started. The field is vast, a single in the world, but at the same time it is a very complex field. Production has begun. One is performing debugging of all systems. The work is progressing well”, the head of the department informed.

In addition, he noted that they plan to reach the commercial level of production in October of this year. “As of today we produce about 40 thousand barrels a day at Kashagan, and we hope that they will reach the commercial production at Kashagan in early October,” he said.

It was previously reported that ExxonMobil Corporation was going to ship the first batch of oil through the terminal of the Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC) at the end of October. It was noted that 93.5 thousand metric tons of shipment will be distributed between ExxonMobil and Royal Dutch Shell Plc, in accordance with this program.

We would like to recall that on 11 September of the current year the first oil volume was produced at the Kashagan. It was originally planned to start production at the Kashagan field in 2005, but the start of mining operations at the field has been repeatedly postponed due to technical difficulties.

The participants of the Kashagan project are the companies: Eni, Royal Dutch Shell, ExxonMobil, Total and KazMunaiGas, which own equal shares (16.81 % ) and the U.S. Company – ConocoPhillips with 8.4% and Japan’s Company – Inpex with 7.55 %.
